Gorillaz Demon Days

Working for the world famous band Gorillaz was a great honour as it enabled me to work alongside Jamie Hewlett, founder of the Gorillaz and creator of tank girl, and provided experience working in online content management for the first time.

My role with the Gorillaz was to manage the 'Search For A Star' section of their website.

This was a competition where members of the public would submit audio, video or image entries of their work and the winner would win the opportunity to work with Gorillaz.

I was responsible for editing, compressing and uploading these entries to the Gorillaz website using their content management system and a range of web tools.

Then each week based on the votes submitted in the Gorillaz forum by the public I would choose a winner, before an overall winner was selected.

During this role I gained a great deal of valuable skills and experience that I have been able to utilise throughout my career, these included:

  • Content management systems
  • Graphic design
  • XML/HTML coding
  • 3D modelling
